Five Minute Kids

This year I am happy to say our speech team is experiencing a tremendous amount of success with our student's articulation skills.  In the last two months of the previous school year and the first two months of this year we have exited about ten students from our program.  I contribute this success to a program entitled Five Minute Kids.  This program works with articulation students trying to improve there intelligibility.  We see students individually for five minutes three to four times a week.  it has resulted in quicker progress and greater success for our students receiving this treatment.

  1. That is a tremendous amount of students to exit from speech. I would love to see how these students are coping now that they no longer see a speech educator. From a general education standpoint, I always have fear of releasing students too early. I a few instances where a speech pathologist wanted to release a student and I just felt it was way too early. The parents initially went along with the idea, because they were told to. However, the more they thought about it, the less they liked it. Ultimately he stayed in the program and has continued to make great progress. I would love to research this program and see how it works. I think that is great that your school is having so much success with these kids. It is a hard job to do, and one that takes a lot of work given the lack of support you've had for many years. Good luck!
